Horizontal Bending/Straightening
Stierli Manually Controlled HE Series
From compact and versatile to substantial and powerful, the Stierli series of horizontal bending and straightening machines provide resources for a wide variety of applications and industries – from machine shops with a wide range of tasks to the heavy steel or vehicle construction industries. This series of ten horizontal bending/straightening machines deliver repeatable bends that meet exacting specifications and a working power range from 85 kN (9 tons) 6000 kN (660 tons).
The manual control is the simplest control available on Stierli-Bieger bending machines and is the basic control for all sizes of machines. It has been proven across decades and is easily used by all operators with the ability to adjust and lock the stroke depth under pressure.
All Stierli HE benders feature a solid table without an open slot. Due the design of Stierli’s cylinders and the way they are mounted, an open slot is not needed. This eliminates parts falling into a slot during bending and causing accidents. The absence of a slot also minimized accumulated dirt and prevents small tools, parts or other items falling into the machine.
The special oil-lubricated guided cylinder requires no maintenance. The stroke limitation operates electro-hydraulically with the tried and tested Stierli switch-off system with Vernier scale and 0 mark. It is operated with the foot switch or the special manual control cable, with which jogging mode, automatic mode and the straightening function can be actuated.
Several of the machines can be transported easily inside the factory with a crane or pallet truck. Built-in tool trays provide organized storage so that tools are always at hand.

Stierli Simple CNC Series
The Stieri Simple CNC series of horizontal bending and straightening machines deliver a range of power coupled with precision bending programs created by the operator to meet specified shop needs. This series of nine horizontal bending/straightening machines deliver repeatable bends meeting exacting specifications based on stroke length. The nine machines range from 120 kN (13 tons) to 6000 kN (660 tons) of working power.
Operators easily use the CNC control with a modern touchscreen and 2-axis control to program the machine’s stroke length either by teaching in the position of the punch or directly entering it, or optionally to program the angle of the bend. It gives full control of the optional 1-, 2- or 3-meter back gauge for fast, accurate positioning of the part. The stroke setting can be adjusted in the program at any time in +/- 0.1 mm steps to offset material-related tolerances.
The control can hold up to 200 programs with 15 steps each. It is operated with the foot switch or the special manual control cable, with which jogging mode, automatic mode and the straightening function can be actuated. The very large working plate ensures effective positioning of very large bent parts. The special oil-lubricated guided cylinder requires no maintenance and no open guide.
Their versatility makes these machines indispensable tools for increasing cost-effectiveness and process reliability in:
- Cambering (pre-tensioning, cambering) of steel beams
- Straightening and bending steel beams
- Straightening of steel profiles (L profiles, T profiles, I profiles, Z profiles, U profiles, rail profiles, special profiles)
- Straightening of welded parts and welded structures
- Straightening of steel plates and flame-cut parts
- Heavy form bending work (work with heavy v-blocks or dies)
- Bending and straightening of very large pipes

Stierli Graphical CNC Series
The Stierli Graphical CNC series of horizontal bending and straightening machines deliver a range of power along with a fully networkable and CAD CAM programmable control interface. These three machines are equipped with modern hybrid hydraulic technology resulting in energy savings of up to 80% and very quiet performance.
Our graphical CNC control allows programming of the stroke length into the machine, either by entering the angle, stroke or teaching-in the stroke depth. The graphical CNC gives full control of the 1-, 2- or 3-meter back gauge for fast, accurate positioning of the part. The control can hold up to 100,000 programs with 15 steps each. There is also a library with common parts to allow for quick programming as well as graphical input to see the part being made.
The operator can program the system very easily as the screen leads him through the dialog. During the bend process, operators can also see how the part should be oriented in the machine as well as possible collisions that may happen as a result of the bend.
There is also the option of automatic angle measurement with an accuracy of ±0.3 of a degree. The material-related spring-back is automatically re-bent to achieve maximum process reliability and precision. In addition, the length before bending and the stop positions are calculated automatically.

Stierli Radial Bending Series
The entire series of Stierli radial bending machines features the same general design: material is bent around a bending pin by a rotating drive. Stierli radial benders are characterized by their ease of operation, low tooling costs and high repeat accuracy.
Stierli radial benders offer an excellent solution for bending medium-sized radii with angles between 0- and ~270-degrees. Radial bending allows for a larger range of bending angles than a traditional horizontal bending machine. Radial bending provides outstanding results in applications involving repeated radii, arch segments, bends over 90°, spirals, enclosed shapes and many other applications. They are ideal for bracketing, decorative designs, and ornamental hardware in steel, copper, aluminum and other materials.
The working torque of the series ranges from 1850 pounds/foot (2500 Nm) to 9600 pounds/foot (13,000 Nm). Each machine comes standard with a 15-inch or optional 23-inch diameter rotating bending plate. These plates as well as the machine table have many points to mount different tooling and part support pieces to the machine. The radial series comes with Stierli’s simple CNC control with modern touchscreen display and 2-axis control, which offers the ability to program the angle of any bend and gives full control of the optional 1-, 2- or 3-meter back gauge for fast, accurate positioning of the part. The control can hold up to 200 programs with 15 steps each.

Stierli Benders for Ship Building
Stierli has created a series of bending machines designed specifically to meet the needs of the global ship-building industry. The SE series was created expressly for accurate bending of ship frame profiles.
Along with the typical HP ship frame, also known as a Holland profile, HP frame or bulb flat, the SE series can accommodate other bending profiles – including L and T profiles. The profiles can be bent individually or in opposing pairs. The machine can also be used for pipe bending and for straightening. Both manual and ultra-modern CNC controls with laser systems are available. The machines are used in shipyards as production bending machines or for ship repairs and retrofits.
With a centralized clamping system to hold material in place during the bending operation, Stierli benders are both productive and space efficient. The SE series features a spacious work platform for easier bending of large parts. Inching functions, straightening functions, or automatic bending programs can all activated via remote hand control or foot pedal. Options are available to deliver high degree of process reliability and automation. A long stroke and movable support rollers allow a high degree of workpiece adjustability.
Support plates with dovetail mounts make for fast and easy tool changes. Abutments can be adjusted electro mechanically.
